Watch the Terrifying Video: Travis Kelce Injures Kansas City Chiefs Teammate Xavier Worthy in Disastrous Start to the New Season – Is Travis Jealous of His Teammate?

Kansas City Chiefs Suffer Blow as Xavier Worthy Injured in Collision with Travis Kelce During Season Opener in Brazil
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is out for the remainder of the season opener after a brutal friendly-fire hit from teammate Travis Kelce in the early minutes of their game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, Brazil.
The collision happened as Worthy ran an under route on a passing play. Unaware of Kelce cutting across the middle, Worthy slammed directly into the veteran tight end. The rookie receiver stayed on the ground for several moments before slowly getting to his feet. With a towel draped over his head, he was helped to the locker room by trainers.
Worthy was later examined with X-rays and officially ruled out for the rest of the game — a devastating blow to an already depleted Chiefs receiving corps. Kansas City is without Rashee Rice, their top wideout, who is currently serving a six-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
Rice’s absence follows months of legal trouble stemming from a high-speed, hit-and-run crash in Dallas in March 2024. He pled guilty to two felony charges in July, receiving five years’ probation, 30 days of jail time, and over $115,000 in restitution. He also settled a $1 million lawsuit but still faces ongoing legal battles.
That left Worthy as the Chiefs’ most reliable wide receiver target. In his rookie season, he finished second on the team in receiving yards behind Kelce, catching 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns. Losing him so early in the season could leave the Chiefs scrambling to rely on Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton, and Jason Brownlee to fill the void.

The timing couldn’t be worse. After the Chargers game, Kansas City faces a tough schedule that includes the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Detroit Lions in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Kelce himself continues to battle through what could be his final season. At 35, he briefly considered retirement after last year’s disappointing campaign, where he posted career lows in receiving yards (823), yards per catch (8.5), and touchdowns (3).
Adding to the drama, Kelce played this game without the support of fiancée Taylor Swift in the stands. Despite speculation that the pop superstar would make the trip, sources revealed she decided against traveling to Brazil.
“The travel, the cost, and especially the security — which would’ve required her team to arrive days in advance — made it a tremendous expense for just a few hours at the game,” a source told Daily Mail.
For now, the Chiefs’ Super Bowl hopes rest on whether their remaining playmakers can step up — and whether Travis Kelce can stay healthy while leading an offense suddenly running out of options.
