Video: ‘SNL’ Spoofs Andy Reid, Taylor Swift Relationship and End of 2024 NFL Playoffs
It did not take long for the latest episode of Saturday Night Live to delve into the storylines surrounding Taylor Swift, the Kansas City Chiefs and even Chiefs head coach Andy Reid.
The cold open of the episode featured the actors portraying the NFL on CBS crew doing the pregame show for Sunday’s AFC Championship between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens.
The theme of the skit was how the offseason was inching closer and that the various analysts and commentators would struggle to fill time once football season was over. This took another turn when the camera cut to a spoof interview that saw Heidi Gardner portray CBS’s Tracy Wolfson and Molly Kearney play Reid.
When asked about if Reid was upset about the season ending, Kearney referenced Swift and how her association with the Chiefs would go dormant for awhile following the season.
“Why, because it’s the only time I get to hang out with Taylor Swift? And know that’s over? Sorry, I need to go,” Kearney said as Reid as she portrayed the coach emotionally leaving the interview.
Swift’s relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has been one of the most followed storylines of the NFL season. She had attended 11 Chiefs games so far, with Kansas City posting an 8-3 record in those matchups.
While the two have never been shown interacting, Reid did share some appreciation for Swift earlier in the season. He referred to himself as a fan of Swift and that the Chiefs are “glad she’s here.”
Reid and the Chiefs will look to extend the season with a victory over Baltimore, but that will be quite the tall task. The Ravens enter the game after securing the No. 1 seed with 13-4 regular season record and cruising to a 34-10 Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans.
The game is set to kickoff at 3 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on CBS, likely featuring the exact crew depicted by the SNL actors.
