Travis Kelce’s dad reveals Taylor Swift wanted to Propose to the Chiefs Star because she was getting ‘antsy’ about him taking too long to propose

Travis Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, has revealed that Taylor Swift was starting to get “a little antsy” about how long the NFL star was taking to propose, while also sharing intimate details about the couple’s romantic engagement.

The pop superstar and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 35, announced their engagement on Tuesday with a stunning photoshoot showing Travis getting down on one knee in a rose garden nearly two weeks ago.

According to Ed, the surprise proposal took place in Lee’s Summit, Missouri — just 20 miles from Travis’s $6 million mansion in Leawood, Kansas. Fans had previously assumed the proposal happened at the mansion itself.

Ed told News 5 Cleveland:
“[Travis] was going to put it off till this week. I think [Taylor] was getting maybe a little antsy, but he wanted to wait and make it a grand, special event. And I told him repeatedly, you could do it on the side of the road — anywhere becomes special when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”

The Surprise Moment

Ed revealed Travis took Taylor completely by surprise. What she thought was a casual evening outing turned into a life-changing moment.
“He got her out there — they were about to go to dinner — and he said, ‘Let’s have a glass of wine.’ And that’s when he asked her. It was beautiful,” Ed shared.

The couple immediately FaceTimed family and friends, including both sets of parents, to share the happy news. Ed described the moment as emotional and joyful:
“To see them together is great. They’re just crazy about each other.”

He also recalled a recent evening with the newly engaged pair:
“Taylor made dinner, and we ate outside on the patio. Just watching them together, it’s truly neat.”

“Several Weeks of Prodding”

Speaking later on The Today Show, Ed admitted the proposal had been a long time coming:
“The proposal happened a few weeks ago after several weeks of prodding from myself and Scott Swift. Travis’s mother and Taylor’s parents have all been expecting this for a while.”

Despite the excitement, Ed confirmed the couple has not yet set a wedding date.
