Travis Kelce Gave Taylor Swift a ‘Folding Fan’ to the Grammys to Shield Her Conversations From ‘Lip Readers’

Good luck, lip-readers! Taylor Swift has preemptively thwarted the internet’s attempts to guess what she’s telling her companions at the 2024 Grammys by bringing the original gossip girl’s favorite accessory: a handheld fan.

Early on during the ceremony, the camera panned to Swift, who leaned forward to chat with collaborator Jack Antonoff. As she did so, she whipped out the black lace fan, which she used as a shield to cover her mouth.

Though we can’t say for sure, it’s likely that the fan—which matched her Reputation-coded black and white Schiaparelli couture look—is Swift’s response to all the Golden Globes drama back in January.

During a break in the awards ceremony, cameras caught Swift, Keleigh Teller (her date for the evening), and Selena Gomez deep in some apparently juicy conversation.

The clip quickly went viral, as amateur lip readers guessed that the trio was gossiping about Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet—specifically, an alleged photo snub.

The drama ballooned to the point that both Chalamet and Gomez had to deny that there was any snubbing or shit-talking taking place. In fact, Gomez later revealed that she was simply informing BFFs that two of her other friends had gotten together.

This is the kind of mild, low-stakes goss that friendships are made of! But instead, it became a Whole Thing. And Taylor Swift really doesn’t have time for all that.

Between the Grammys, the next leg of her Eras Tour, and her boyfriend Travis Kelce playing in the Super Bowl next weekend, she is booked, busy, and uninterested in becoming a trending topic for anything other than drama
