Kylie Kelce reveals why she refused to congratulate brother-in-law Travis and Taylor Swift on engagement “Because I know the truth”

Weeks after Travis Kelce announced his engagement to Taylor Swift, fans noticed that Kylie Kelce—wife of Travis’ brother and former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce—hadn’t publicly congratulated the couple on social media or her podcast. Now, Kylie is opening up about her decision.

Swift’s engagement to the Kansas City Chiefs star sent the internet into a frenzy, with millions of “Swifties” celebrating the news. But Kylie’s silence left many wondering why she hadn’t made a statement.

Speaking on her Not Gonna Lie podcast, Kylie revealed the reasoning behind her choice:

“I have made a very conscious effort to not discuss Taylor and Travis on this podcast because news outlets, tabloids, and AI, quite frankly, like to post only the quotes that they grab from whatever I say in reference to them,” Kylie explained.

She went on to stress the difference between public perception and private family life:

“People don’t realize—you have your family. You might have a brother-in-law, and they might be dating someone. You might have a soon-to-be sister-in-law. But you have a personal relationship with them that no one else is involved in. I don’t need to come out here and make statements when I already talked to them.”

Kylie added that her silence was not about indifference but about protecting her private relationship with Travis and Taylor:

“I don’t need you to clickbait my stuff. I don’t need you to dissect my comments. It goes without saying—I am so incredibly happy for them. The girls are thrilled to be getting another aunt. I feel grateful that we get to welcome Taylor into our family in a more official capacity.”

While Kylie didn’t immediately address the engagement when the news broke, she did share her excitement days later during an appearance on Good Morning America:

“The girls are thrilled,” she said, referring to her daughters Wyatt, Elliotte, and Bennett. “They’re so excited they’re getting another aunt. We could not be more excited for them and what the future holds. We love love, and we love Taylor and Trav!”

Taylor herself has also spoken warmly about Kylie and Jason. During her appearance on New Heights, she recalled the hilarious moment she first met the Kelces—watching Jason jump out of a window shirtless to help pass their daughters into the suite. Swift also shared how she’s gotten to spend time with her future nieces away from the cameras.

Kylie closed her podcast remarks by emphasizing what matters most:

“I am very forthcoming with how much I love and appreciate Taylor, and how much I love the fact you can tell how happy Travis is. That’s what I care about.”
