Charlie Kirk suspect’s astonishing ‘it was me, but i was not alone’ confession to online chat group revealed just before he turned himself in

Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, allegedly confessed to the killing in a private online chat before turning himself in, according to The Washington Post.
“Hey guys, I have bad news for you all,” Robinson allegedly wrote on Discord. “It was me at UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this.”
The 23-year-old was arrested late Thursday night following a 33-hour manhunt and is being held in a Utah jail on suspicion of aggravated murder. He is expected to appear in court Tuesday, where prosecutors may pursue capital murder charges that could result in execution by firing squad.
Authorities say Robinson used a sniper rifle to shoot Kirk, 31, with a single bullet to the neck while he spoke at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. The FBI later confirmed DNA evidence linking Robinson to a rifle and other items found near the scene, including a screwdriver recovered from the rooftop where the fatal shot was fired.
Investigators also discovered disturbing details: bullet casings allegedly marked with phrases like “Hey, fascist! Catch!” and “Bella ciao,” a World War II-era anti-fascist slogan. Other cartridges bore symbols tied to online gaming culture.
Details about Robinson began to emerge Friday. A third-year electrician apprentice from St. George, Utah, Robinson reportedly grew up in a Republican household but in recent years adopted what officials described as “leftist ideology.” Governor Spencer Cox claimed the suspect had been “radicalized in a fairly short amount of time.”
Photos circulating online show Robinson posing with firearms and wearing a Halloween costume depicting him riding on Donald Trump’s shoulders. He lived with a transgender partner, who police say has not been linked to the shooting and is cooperating with investigators.
Discord confirmed it is working with the FBI, though the platform said it found “no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence” on its servers.
FBI Director Kash Patel told Fox News that Robinson had written a note before the attack, stating he had the chance to “take out Kirk” and intended to follow through. Investigators were able to recover the destroyed note’s contents.
Meanwhile, tributes for Charlie Kirk have poured in nationwide. Thousands gathered for a vigil at the Kennedy Center in Washington, while moments of silence were held at professional sporting events across the country.
Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, leaves behind his wife, a three-year-old daughter, and a 16-month-old son.
